Take chances. Mix flavors. Drink it cold.
Whatever you do, don’t call it iced coffee!
Cold Brew vs. Iced Coffee. No, they are not the same.
We hear people talk about cold brew as iced coffee and iced coffee like cold brew, but these two different drinks couldn’t be more different. They are brewed differently, they taste different, and their contents are different.
Iced coffee is coffee that is brewed hot. This is the traditional coffee that you drink every day. The only difference is that it is then poured over ice to chill it. This is perfect if you want a quick cup of cold coffee and are using Crazy Cups flavored coffee pods.
Cold brew is different, and we love it!
With the cold brew method, you use cold water instead of hot to brew the coffee, so it is never heated up. No more taking the chance of burning your tongue because you simply couldn’t wait! - We’ve all been there.
This process produces a coffee that is higher in caffeine, smoother, and less bitter than your traditional coffee.
Here’s Why Cold Brew Is Oh-So Amazing
We can’t get enough of cold brew. It has a natural chocolate taste that is just full of flavor. Plus, cold brew coffee has been shown to be 67% less acidic, meaning that it is easier on the tummy!
If you have a difficult time drinking coffee because it upsets your stomach, give cold brew a try. People who drink cold brew coffee tend to have fewer stomach issues, meaning that it is healthier for you than the traditional way of brewing coffee.
When you use Crazy Cups coffee grounds to brew cold brew, you will get a smooth coffee that is rich in your favorite coffee flavor, with an added hint of chocolate that is sure to satisfy any coffee craving.
Step-By-Step How to Make Your Cold Brew
Brewing up a cup of cold brew takes more time than simply popping a coffee pod into your Keurig and pushing a button, which is why we recommend you make a batch at a time. While coffee that is brewed hot is only good for a few hours, cold brew can last up to 14 days in the fridge, so you don’t have to worry about it going bad before you are able to drink it. Because it stays good for two weeks, you can make large batches at once so you always have a supply of cold brew in your fridge.
Here is how you can brew up your own batch of cold brew coffee so you can have cold brew anytime!
Step 1. In a large jar, add 2.5 tbsp of coffee for every six ounces of water you add. Consider how much coffee you want to make and go from there.
Step 2. Cover your jar and place it in the fridge. Now, wait for 12 - 24 hours before removing.
Step 3. Once the coffee is finished steeping, use a cheesecloth, fine mesh chinois, or coffee filter (we know you have one!) to strain the coffee into a clean jar. We recommend you do this twice!
Step 4. Pour your cold brew over ice and enjoy! Feel free to add your favorite cream and sweetener for added fun!
Step 5. Return any unused cold brew to your fridge in a clean, covered jar to save for up to 14 days.
Now that you know how to make cold brew at home, and why you should make it, grab a pack of your favorite flavor of Crazy Cups ground coffee and get to brewin’!
